My Japanese School Uniform (Nanchatte Seifuku)

I received a lot of emails from people asking about the Japanese school uniforms and my uniform. I was really looking forward to school uniforms too since they are known to be very flattering (at least in animes). To my big surprise, my host school didn't have a uniform... What a shock!!
A lot of girls at my school wear "Nannchatte Seifuku(なんちゃって制服)" which are "fake" school uniforms that are more fashionable and cute. This allows them to mix and match with the colours they liked and the styles that please them. Some brands that sell this kind of clothes are East Boy, Don Quijote and Body Line, the first one being more expensive than the second one. Some stores are located in shopping malls (like East Boy is in Isetan) or places where young people shop at (Shibuya, Harajuku, Akihabara, etc.).
Some people might find these clothes very expensive (a skirt at East Boy could be around 100$ while a blazer could be over 250$), if you thought about it they are expensive but most girls will wear the clothes during most days in their 3 years of high school. The girls usually have multiple pieces of clothing to mix and match and of course allow their clothes to be washed. I have three skirts, a couple of dress shirts and couple of cardigans. I personally prefer this outfit because it's simple and allow me to wear accessories if I wanted to, without being over decorated like a Xmas tree. Most girls at my school had mainly pink coloured items (pink skirt, pink dress shirt, pink cardigan, etc.) I prefer the boyish look so I usually wear a tie. I never knew how to tie a tie so I always had to ask my host dad to do it for me, when I'm in a hurry, I just wear a ribbon which is much easier to wear (just put it around your neck and you're done!)

The sailor uniform I have is more of a cosplay kind of nature but it still looks pretty legit! I love it because it's easy to wear and can be worn with a lot of cardigans with different colours. 

The next ones are two other skirts that I own, just to switch it up a bit from time to time! All the Japanese skirts end up a bit shorter on me because of my height :(

I also pair these two outfits with ribbons on days I don't have time to tie a tie!

Spring in Paris-Jardins des Tuileries, Paris Opera and Lafayette

Hey guys!
I know I haven't been writing a lot recently since I got really busy with school *sigh*
Some people contacted me to talk more about my exchange trip in Japan in videos so I will be working on that as soon as I get free time. Pinky promise!

In Canada we have a break in March so that people can recover from the cold, harsh Canadian weather by going off to somewhere warm. So I decided to go to Paris! I have always wanted to go to Paris since some of you might know, Canada's official language is English and French. I myself learned French since kindergarten in Quebec. And as many of you might know, Canadian French and French from France are kind of different (pronunciation, vocabulary, tone, etc..). But I admit, it is way easier for me to go around since I knew the language and it just made my life much less stressful. It was a warm weak of early spring in Paris, with a lot of sunshine and warm temperatures. The amount of attractions in the city is enormous and one week wasn't even enough to visit all the places we desired to.

Our first day in Paris started up very early since there is several hours of jet-lag, I woke up at 3am that morning. After rolling around in bed, I went to Jardin des Tuileries, the park right in front of The Louvre, which is literally not even 5 minutes walk from the hotel we were staying at. Usually, it's packed with tourists and children since it is a metal fence away from the Louvre and a few steps away from Place de la Concorde. However, since we were up since 3am, we went to the garden at around 8am so there wasn't even ten people in there. It was very relaxing with a lot of grass and statues.
From what my research told me, there used to be a Tuileries Palace but it was destroyed, leaving only the garden behind.

Then we decided to go to the infamous Lafayette shopping centre. To be honest, I was looking forward into this because it's called the world's first big shopping mall! When we went in, I was a bit shocked by the amount of tourists in there (mainly Asian and Russian) and in order to allow better communication with the customers, the store clerks are also mostly foreigners. I was in there for about an hour and I didn't hear anybody speak in French. It left me feeling peculiar... Not in a bad way but just peculiar. 

On our way to the mall, we passed by the Paris Opera. It was absolutely astonishing! The Phantom of Opera was based on this building and it has a subterranean lake. Just these two facts are enough to impress me!

Illumination at Yomiuri Land (よみうりランド)

I went to a theme park called Yomiuri Land and Tokyo Tower with my friend Natsuki after I got back from Shizuoka. Our main goal was to watch the illuminations going on everywhere around the city and the theme park had one too. With the night pass, you can ride on any rides you wish and look at the illuminations when it gets dark.

We rode the Ferris Wheel in the park and the view was breathtaking once on top. It costs 600 yen but it was definitely worth it!

It was so pretty I got really excited. A lot of couples were there since it has an area designated to couples. In the area, all the lights were pink and blue, with a "lake" in the middle of the place and hearts floating on the water. The second part of the area had white lights, giving out a feeling of being in the middle of piles of snow. It has a giant water fountain with water shows on certain times.

 The locks were meant to seal the lovely sweet relationship between the lovers.

In our case, it  sealed our friendship!

After leaving the park, we went to Tokyo Tower to see the night view of the city. It was amazing! Everybody tend to go to the newly built Sky Tree nowadays but I prefer Tokyo Tower for some reason. We could see Odaiba with its wonderfully colourful lights shining in the dark.

So my trip to Japan is almost over and I'm going to post my last blogpost about my Japan exchange trip soon. I'm really depressed right now actually :(
